Advanced Mobile Setup

Many experienced players use SSH-based solutions for mobile play:

  • Termius - SSH client for iOS/Android that can connect to cloud-based TinTin++ instances
  • TinTin++ - Run TinTin++ on a cloud server (Google Cloud, AWS, etc.) and access via SSH from any mobile device
  • WMT client - Works great on mobile browsers as well

Benefits of cloud-based approach: Your session persists even when you disconnect, letting you seamlessly switch between devices.

  • Full Control: Scripts as local text files you own and control
  • Advanced Features: Complex scripting, triggers, aliases, custom mappers
  • System Integration: Launch external programs and deep customization
  • Longevity: Text configs survive better than cloud solutions

When to Use These Methods

SSH Tunneling: Useful when you're behind a restrictive firewall that blocks standard MUD ports. This method wraps your connection in SSH encryption, making it appear as regular SSH traffic.

Telnet: The original MUD connection method. While it works, telnet is unencrypted and lacks modern features. Only recommended if you have specific compatibility requirements.

Note: Most players will be better served by We MUD Together or a desktop client. These alternative methods are primarily for troubleshooting connectivity issues.

Getting Started

Your first steps in 3Kingdoms

Creating Your Character

Once connected, you'll be greeted with a login screen. Press Enter to continue, then you'll see options to either log in with an existing character or create a new one.

New players: When prompted for your character name, choose something unique and creative. Names cannot contain numbers or profanity. If the name is already taken, you'll be asked for a password - just disconnect and try a different name.

You can also login as guest to explore the game before creating a character.

The Tutorial

After creating your character, you'll be offered a basic tutorial. We strongly recommend taking it if you're new to MUDs or 3Kingdoms. It will teach you fundamental commands and help you navigate your first steps.

The tutorial is interactive and will guide you through movement, combat basics, and essential commands to get you started on your adventure.

Getting Help

3Kingdoms has an extensive support system for new players:

  • Newbie Helpers: Dedicated players who volunteer their time to help newcomers. Use the newb channel to ask questions.
  • Help System: Type help anytime for access to comprehensive help files.
  • Newbie Area: A dedicated safe zone designed for learning the basics.
  • Community: The player community is welcoming and helpful - don't hesitate to ask!
